Billy Meston has stepped down after several years as the juniors President and handed the reins to me. On behalf of Rod David the CNCC President and everyone else, I would like to thank Billy for the valuable contribution he has made to our Club. To all new parents and players: welcome to the Club. We hope you have a long and enjoyable association with Perth’s leading community and districts cricket club.
To all our returning parents and players, thank you for continuing with the Club in what will be an exciting year ahead. Our Club’s success is built on a unique culture of parents volunteering their valuable time to coach and manage our boys’ and girls’ teams, and to serve on our committees and perform other unpaid roles like age group coordinators. We are very grateful to all our volunteers. A good deal of work for the season ahead is currently going on behind the scenes, driven by our ever efficient registrar Samantha Buckland.
Age group coordinators are finalising the various teams. Grounds are being booked. Team kit bags are being sorted. New balls, equipment and playing shirts are being ordered. Coaches and managers will be in touch with parents in the weeks ahead with further information about this, including training times.
Community cricket starts on the weekend of Saturday 19 October 2019. We expect the cricket association to announce the fixtures schedule a week or so before then. It is particularly exciting that our Club will be fielding an U11s girls’ team for the first time this season. Thank you to Kathryn Salter for her enthusiastic efforts in driving this. We are planning to hold some social events, and we are also looking to revamp the club’s social media accounts in the weeks ahead. More to come on that later. I look forward to seeing you at the Club this season.
