Welcome to the new season!!
After another hugely successful record breaking season last year, its great to be back into it ready try and do it all again. Pre season has been fantastic so far, with numbers being very high and the standard being exceptional. Lots of new players around the club to go with the existing players. So far we haven’t lost any players to Uni, so we are all very optimistic on the season ahead. Pre season has been a mixture of skills sessions at Revos, as well as a number of different venues on a Saturday morning. Fitness coach, Dan Turkich has further upped his “Great for life” attitude and has had the lads doing various activities from fitness testing, running/boxing sessions, rock climbing, to ten pin bowling. All followed by coffee or a beer to keep the whole club together.
Jo Swan is taking a more senior role this year, with responsibility as lead coach of the 2/3/4 grade – all being well he wont be needed to come back as our 2nd grade strike bowler….time will tell. Mike Edwards continues as Chairman of Selectors, thankfully, as well as taking on the very important Under 17 head coach role. Other coaching and captaincy appointments are TBA, but we have some exciting changes ahead to try and promote some consistency and success across all of the grades.
The players once again are looking in good touch, and we are looking forward to seeing yet more of the Tigers players come through into the WACA pathways. Once again there will be plenty of opportunities for any players performing well in the 2nd grade to make the transition into the 1st grade, and I am delighted that we have seen several players make this jump over the past 2 seasons to become match winners in a multiple premiership winning side. Of course we are delighted that the senior members of the team are all as committed as ever, and continue to drive the standards around the club.
Looking forward to seeing everyone down at Cresswell this season, as we strive to win our 5th One day premiership, 3rd 2 day premiership, and 3rd “double” in a row.
